The radio-controlled clock regularly resets to the US WWVB atomic clock in Boulder, CO, and adapts automatically for daylight savings time. The clock also monitors indoor temperatures for enhanced climate comfort. The LCD clock displays time in jumbo-sized digits by the hour and minute in 12-hour format. A calendar function presents the month and day of the week in English, French, or Spanish. The user selects from four US time zones to match the clock’s location for atomic time coordination. A radio tower icon flashes onscreen when receiving time updates from the WWVB at a 60kHz frequency. A crescendo alarm alerts users, increasing in volume over 2 minutes. A snooze function arrests the alarm for 8 minutes. An AM/FM radio option also can be employed. For indoor climate information, the clock measures indoor temperatures ranging from 23 to 122 degrees F. This item hangs on the wall or can stand-alone. Two included AA batteries power the clock. A low-battery icon flashing when fresh batteries are required. This chalet eight day German cuckoo clock features wooden hands, a wood dial with Roman numerals, and a warm light yellow hand-painted and hand-carved cuckoo bird. The cuckoo clock case is like a house with a sloping roof. Several figures represent the country scenery on the base of the clock. Two cast iron pine cone weights are suspended beneath the clock case by two separate brass chains. The hand-carved shield pendulum continuously swings back and forth which controls the timing of the clock. If your cuckoo clock’s timing should ever need adjustment, you can control the speed of your clock by sliding the shield up or down the pendulum stick. Sliding the shield down causes the cuckoo clock to run slightly slower, while sliding the maple leaf up makes the cuckoo clock run slightly faster. On every hour the cuckoo bird emerges from a swinging door above the clock dial and counts the hour by cuckooing once per hour. (Example: At one o’clock the bird will cuckoo once. At eight o’clock the bird will cuckoo eight times) The half hour is announced with one cuckoo call. The eight day movement, which is made in Germany, will run for 8 days. It is wound once per eight days by raising the two pine cone weights. One weight powers the time and the other weight powers the cuckoo and cuckoo call. *Great effort has been made to portray each cuckoo clock as accurately as possible. As with many handmade items, the exact coloration and carving may vary slightly from clock to clock. We consider this to be a special part of their character.
